In the cooperation of four different universities in four different countries, a completely new course will start at 2023 Spring, in the care of Graz University of Technology, Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania, University of Slavonski Brod and John von Neumann University. Students can get a short insight to the industrial processes, the mechanical testing methods of sheets, the theoretical and practical design and analysis of sheet metal forming processes and dies to develop their profession and networking skills in engineering. They can join into the lectures of professors from different institutes online, and learn for example, about the influence of temperature, time and deformation grade in the microstructure of metal alloys, the preparation of the mathematical material models for sheet metals, and the concept of sheet bending (characterization of the deformation, designing bending process, etc.). During the physical week, students can get in touch with the construction elements and design practice of sheet stamping dies. CAD modelling and finite element simulations needed for practical tool design will also be discussed and performed in the course to complete a design project in teamwork. Anyone can see that students can gain a relatively wide range of engineering skills in this course that will be useful beyond any doubt in their career.
• industrial processes like forming and annealing; • microstructure of alloys; • physical explanation of the evolution of the microstructure after/during cold/hot deformation; • influence of temperature, time and deformation grade in the flow behaviour and microstructure of alloys; • mechanical testing methods for sheet metals (e.g., tensile test, Nakajima test, Marciniak test, forming limit diagram); • statistical analysis of results and preparation of mathematical material models used in calculations and numerical simulations; • theoretical ground concepts of sheet bending (peculiarities of the bending process, characterization of the deformation in the bended sheet section, the variation of the bending stresses);
