Course title, code: Tools and peripherals for plastic processing, GAGEBAN-MUSZPEEA-1
The objective of this course is to familiarise students with the operation, parts and basic construction of plastic processing tools and peripherals.
In the Plastic Processing Tools and Peripherals course, students will learn the basic construction of injection moulding tools. Inlet system design. Design and dimensioning of distribution channels and dams. Moving parts in moulds, special designs and side movements. Product removal from the mould. Understanding ejector mechanisms. Design of cooling circuits for tool tempering. Familiarisation with plastic processing tool peripherals (hot runner controls, temperers, hydraulic movement/control devices for tool cores, control devices for pneumatic movements within the tool, water circuit cleaning/diagnostic devices). 1. Registration week 2. Thermoplastic processing tools 3. Cold runner inlet systems 4. Design of ejection systems, design options for temperature control systems 5. Hot runner inlet systems 6. Tool design 7. Tool design 8. Tool maintenance, maintenance plan 9. thermosetting plastic processing tools (compression moulding, injection moulding, thermosetting injection moulding) 10. Thermoforming tools (vacuum forming, press-air forming) 11. tooling for hollow body production (rotational moulding, injection moulding, extrusion blow moulding) 12 Examination task 13. project task report 14. plastic processing tool peripherals (hot runner controls, temperers, hydraulic movement/control devices for tool cores, control devices for pneumatic movements within the tool, water circuit cleaning/diagnostic devices
Knowledge:
The student should be able to recognise and apply the processes studied in the previous subjects (Technical Drawing, Plastics Processing Technology I,).
Ability to describe technological processes and to coordinate the injection moulding tool or processing machine.
Mid-term study requirements:
During the semester, students will write 1 final paper and submit an assignment. The place and time of the final examination will be announced by the lecturer in the first week of the semester. Design assignments must be submitted no later than 2 weeks before the end of the term.
Exam requirements:
The examination consists of a written part.
