The aim of the course is to introduce students to the latest materials testing techniques for qualifying raw materials and final products and identifying possible causes of manufacturing defects, as well as to provide them with basic practical experience in testing and report writing.

Operation and application of thermogravimetry (TGA) 4. operation and application of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) 5. Infrared spectroscopy and its application to polymers 6. Mechanical testing of products 1: Tensile testing 7 Mechanical testing of products 2: Flexural testing 8 Mechanical testing of products 3: Charpy impact test, hardness measurement 9. Thermoanalytical methods for testing finished products 1: DSC, TGA, their relation to measurements on raw materials 10 Thermoanalytical methods for finished product testing 2: DMTA operation and application 11. Measurement and testing of time-dependent properties 12. Softening temperature and heat-deflection temperaure (HDT) determination on raw materials.
