Course objectives

In the thesis – under the guidance of departmental (internal) and industrial (external) advisors – a practical, complex technical-economic task, detailed on the thesis task sheet, must be solved.

Course content
Lectures

Learning how to prepare a thesis topic outline, mastering literature review techniques. Understanding the content and format requirements of the thesis. Getting to know and applying libraries and databases. Understanding the concept of plagiarism. Proper use of scientific language, creating figures, tables, and diagrams. Capable of applying the acquired general and specific principles, rules, relationships, and procedures from natural sciences, engineering sciences, business, and organizational studies to solve routine tasks in the technical field. Able to prepare business plans, perform decision-making tasks, develop and implement innovation strategies. Capable of assessing and managing investment needs, as well as conducting technical and economic studies related to investments.

Knowledge

Can apply the computational, modeling principles and methods related to mechanical product, process, and technology design.

Skills

Is able to apply the acquired IT knowledge in solving tasks arising in their field of expertise. Is capable of applying the technical specifications related to the operation of mechanical systems, as well as the principles of setting up and operating machinery and mechanical equipment, and their economic correlations.

Attitude

Is open to learning about and accepting ongoing professional and technological developments and innovations in the technical field, and reliably conveying them.

Autonomy and responsibilities

Identifies the shortcomings of applied technologies, the risks of processes, and initiates actions to mitigate these.

Mid-term study requirements

Compiling a 15-20 page literature review on the thesis topic.

Generative AI usage

1st position: Use of GAI tools is not permitted for solving assignments. This means GAI tools cannot be used to complete formative or summative assessments, and using GAI constitutes academic misconduct. The use of AI tools for spelling and grammar checking does not fall under this prohibition.
