Course title, code: Measurement in Mechanical Engineering I., GAJABAN-GEPIMER1-1
The aim of the course Measurements in Mechanical Engineering is to present to the students length measurements used in this field. Students will learn about the optical measurements, deviation measurements, surface roughness measurements and other methods.
Basic concepts, development of the length measurement system Measurement errors, measurement methods Dimensions and shape tolerances Optical measurements Coordinate measuring technique, I Concept of surface roughness, measurement procedures 3D scanning Thread inspection Theory of gear measurement Verification, calibration
Course content - labs:
Measurement with calipers Measurement with a micrometer Use of instruments for deviation measurement Technique of optical length measurements Surface roughness measurement with a stylus method Coordinate measuring technique Roundness measurement Contour measurement
Knowledge:
The student will become familiar with the basic facts, interrelationships, limits and boundaries of the knowledge. He/she is able to apply the acquired knowledge at different measurements.
He acquires also knowledge from the process of technical documentation.
Mid-term study requirements:
During the semester, students are required to take one midterm test, which must be passed with at least 50%. In addition to the midterm, four laboratory exercises must be completed, and the results must be recorded in written reports. To obtain at least a passing grade, students must achieve at least 50% of the total points available from the reports. The student’s final score (which forms the basis of the grade) is the sum of the points earned from the midterm test and the reports.
Exam requirements:
1st position: The use of GAI tools is not permitted when solving tasks. This means that GAI tools cannot be used when creating or solving formative or summative assessment elements, and the use of generative AI constitutes academic misconduct. The use of AI tools for language and spelling checking is not subject to the complete ban under the 1st position.
