Course objectives

The aim of this course is to familiarize students with the relationship between national defense and the economy. National defense is a key sector of the national economy, and its significance is essential for all economic professionals. Students will learn about the unique characteristics of innovation in national defense and in weapons manufacturing. It is important for students to understand the nature of the relationship between national defense and the civilian economy, the process by which defense innovation spills over into the civilian economy, and the processes involved in wartime economic management.
