Course objectives

During the course we would like to underline that the accounting is the part of the economic life of the entities. The accounting registers the economic transactions and the provides information for the decision makers. Based on the theoretical and practical background the subject focuses on the accounting principles, on the accounting methods and flow, on the measurement and on the financial reports. The course will provide a systematic point of view for the students, and it helps them to understand the information from the accounting system.

Course content
Lectures

1) The role of the accounting system. Information of Accounting. (2) The accounting equation, and define assets, liabilities, and owner’s equity. Balance sheet. (3) The Recording Processes (4) Analyze the effects of business transactions on the accounting equation. (5) The ledger account Define debits and credits and explain their use in recording business transactions. (6) The types of journals. The ledger accounts and journals. (7) Posting the transactions. Preparing Trial Balance and Balance Sheet. The financial statements. (8) Balance sheet and income statement by US and IFRS system. (9) The valuation methods. (10) The property, plant and equipment (PPE). Depreciation, Amortization. (11) The stock valuation and methods, Gross profit calculation. (12) Liabilities. ( 13) Summary
